As I followed your account in my imagination, I felt a resonance, and in that connection with you, compassion arose … for you and Billy and his family … for me and my own accident in which a friend died, and for his family … so long ago, but still arising in me for healing. In sharing your account, you have opened the space for others to heal.

Thanks for sharing your story. I’m only beginning to understand the well of pain that can accumulate inside and how easy it becomes (thru habituation) to live on the surface but not fully living. Your story was rich with life and all that goes with it … pain, grief, connection, compassion… and how we can be healers for one another. :`-)

I identified with much of your story and share parts of both families experiences. Like your mother, I kept things buried for many years with alcohol use. Now with some years of abstinence I am feeling ready to step into the healing available with SE and EMDR. Reading your blog has been helpful in unlocking emotions which are easy to keep hidden form myself and loved ones. I also was given greater awareness of the difficulty in talking of how I feel and see that same challenge in those I am closest with. Though I live in a remote location, I’ll hope to find an SE Practitioner and get started with the journey of further unlocking these blockages.
