Hi Annaliese ~
Just got done reading you 3 part series on you medical challenge..
I so much appreciate that you do not just ‘dis’ western medicine but still use what helps you..
It is nice to hear the balance you try to keep with S.E. ~
And not make western medicine the ‘enemy’ but you acknowledge that all medical modalities can work together as each person needs.
Thanks for sharing this with others..
And first of all a big THANK YOU for sharing the cd’s with me,,
They comfort & strengthen, & are doing a healing at a leavel that I am not totally aware of,,,
And my soul is comforted by the words & statements just as strongly as the power of the Holy Spirit strengthens my spirit & soul thru the word of God,,the bible..
I feel S. E. Factoring in our humanity….and it is done in a very practical way …
I can not wholly grasp totally the gift of S.E. To mankind,,
Any more than I can full grasp the God I know …for His ways are not our ways…
Yet my God is all about what is best for each person in the whole wide world…
Even tho it is hard for me at times..to believe God is there for me.
Rainie

Over the past year i have had a series of troubling diagnoses. I recognize the mind-body connect. I have started working with a SEP.she is good, but what more shall I do? Are there communities helping each other with this? I don’t want to change professions, but eager to reduce fear, anxiety which elludes me still.

First of all, YOU are the embodiment of inspiration!!! So proud of you and your efforts to go to medical school and study SE and make salient points that have the potential to become groundbreaking connections in this still mostly unknown area. I know enough about CCSVI (due to my research) to agree with you that there is a connection with blood flow and restriction and MS. I realize that many authorities dismiss this connection, however if we keep it really basic, isn’t the common theme of MS (and autoimmune diseases) a combination of stress and trauma based body tension that leads to inflammation and mixed signals systemically? So, correct me if I am wrong, but you are suggesting that if we release the tension (by massage and SE sessions to regulate the dys-regulated nervous system) so as to let the blood flow properly, we can avoid the alternative of courting MS?

I’d love to hear back from you. Please stay in touch with your thoughts if you have time.

Wishing you the Best,
Annaliese

Hi

I enjoyed reading your blog entries and am very curious about your book. I, too, am a sep student about to start my second year of sep.

Over the last year, I abruptly started having a slugh of neurological symptoms. They include lower back pain, tingling numbness, weakness, cramping, muscle twisting, and off balanced. I’ve had mris, blood test, pet scans, ultrasounds…. Neuro specialist in Houston calls it transverse myletis at this point .

Of course I’ve have a history of developmental trauma(sexual abuse) from 4-16y/0. I’ve had longstanding psychotherapy tx and over the last year of Se work. I have had a nice ride with Se treatment so far. I’ve had a series of escape responses that I reworked.

However, I’m really starting to be curious about the neurological symptom connection and trauma. Although most of my test are normal, one came back from the mayo clinic as evidence of an undetermined autoimmune response . My local neurologist says, “something is pissing off my spinal cord”.

Dealing with these symptoms have been quite a challenge. Prior to this, I was a former college tennis athlete, but more recently just enjoyed any sport I could get near. I’m down to a recumbent bike and 3x a week yoga.

The introduction of Se has really helped me take all this in stride.

I would like to follow your experience and writings.

Jenny

Your posts are a true gift. And I for one haven0t thought for a second that you were overstretching the trauma and MS connection. I have MS since I was 18, I am a TRE provider, a trauma student and about to finish medical school. I don’t know if you are familiar with the CCSVI theory because it doesn’t get much press, but it could be another piece of the puzzle. There’s a real, very ugly war going on between most neurologists and the vascular surgeons/radiologists who have described CCSVI. If chronic venous cerebro-spinal insufficency model is right (which I believe it must be in most MS cases) certain postural habits and muscular tensions can be responsible for blood stasis in the brain which begins the inflammation cascade. Imagine if all the tensions in the jaw, face, neck area… And even in the diaphragm… Acting as physical blocks to venous drainage from the brain. That would mean that trauma release can help directly people with MS.

Phyllis-

Thanks so much for the positive feedback. Thanks also for reminding me to check out Donna Eden. She certainly has tapped into her inner source of energy!! I absolutely agree that “blockages” of any sort impact our health- whether that blockage is a trapped memory or a current relationship that is not bringing out the best in you. It all adds up and eventually will take down even the strongest and most resilient.

Wishing you much success with your SE practice and continued good health!!!!

I love the way you so clearly express this connection between MS, symptoms and trauma. I was going to tell you about Donna Eden but someone beat me to it. Check her out on youtube and at http://www.innersource.net. I am going to link this blog to my FB page too. I LOVE SE!!!

Natasha-

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I’m always looking to connect with others who have MS and are turning to somatic therapy to manage the disease process. Let me know how it goes! I’d love to hear more!

Happy Healing-

Cara-

I’ll never forget our “we have 1 minute to resolve everything from this moment back to pre-conception” – hilarious! Humor is a great resource to have in our somatic toolbags. I’m headed to San Diego for the rest of Advanced training this fall. You?

Wishing you the Best!
