Camper Jen!

Thank you for your comment! I agree with you and feel it all became one in a way- the strategies I developed to deal with trauma and the impact of my strategies on my health further perpetuating the situation. Was the dog wagging the tail or the tail wagging the dog? I’m intrigued by your use of SE to deal with your chronic pain. How long have you been using SE as part of your wellness plan?

All the Best to You!
Annaliese

P.S. I signed up to your newsletter on your webpage http://www.paincamp.com.

I am taking away these comments – “Could my chronic overworking have contributed to the trauma?” I asked myself. “Or were those habits my system’s way of staying safe?”

It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with Chronic Pain Syndrome (and many other things) that I realized that a previous Dx of PTSD was only contributing to the pain issues. I believe that once the body is rooted in trauma response, the body and behavior can sometimes seek out re-traumatization subconsciously and sometimes consciously. Healing must be holistic and include the brain and the body. Not just cognitive approaches or just physical approaches.

Keep up the great writing!

Jen

Janet-

Thank you so much for your comment! I’m proud of you for changing your life and seeking a better way to live. It’s not easy, but it’s worth the effort. I’m very interested to know more about your SE work and if you are finding positive results? Are you a student of SETI?

Karen C.!

Thank you for your wonderful comment! (Sorry I had you confused with Yoga Karen!) I really appreciate yor objective feedback and want to applaude YOU for how much support that YOU provide to your mother and Becky as they continue to “fight the good fight”. It’s the caretakers such as yourself that truly deserve the accolades.

See you at Dr. Adrouney’s office- if not for dinner sometime sooner!

All the Best,
Annaliese

We share similar life achievements: JD, marathons, working hard…and for me being exhausted, suffering from low-self esteem and night terrors since childhood. In the last 6 years I left my practice, state where I’d lived for 30 plus years, friend..having said “enough” to my chronic poor sleep and satisfaction level no matter what achievements I’d could accomplish. After unsuccessful mainstreem therapy fixes, I began to read all I can on trauma, fortunately discovering Dr. Levine and Alice Miller. Your article is such an encouragement to me. I look forward to the next installment.

Oops! Sorry Annaliese as I should have printed my last name as well (Cushman). I’m not the Karen in yoga. Met you at Adrouny’s office then we met for dinner with Becky.

Thanks for chiming in this evening! I’d like to take this opportunity to officially thank you for always motivating me in your yoga classes, but more importantly, for suggesting I read Peter Levine’s books. Without YOU, none of this would have happened! Thank you for knowing that was the right direction for me to go- and never forget that you are an inspiration to all that know you.

Namaste,
Annaliese

Dee Dee-

It takes one Princess Warrior to know another! Thank you so much for the kind words and for leading the fight against living with health issues and chronic pain. Can’t wait to hear what you think of Peter Levine’s “Freedom from Pain” CD. I think it’s amazing. And, so are you!

Hugs,
Annaliese

Dave-

Thanks so much for your comment! I appreciate your support and tying my blog to your real life experiences with your client base. You have been a fantastic sounding board for me as I fleshed out my theory-I am forever indebted to you for listening and all the SE practice sessions.

And notice the breath….

Lisa-
What a wonderful message. I am completely moved by your kind words. Four years ago I would have never thought I’d be receiving such high praise for opening my heart and telling my story. I truly hope I can help carve out a path for others who are stuck and looking for answers. There is hope!

Hugs,
Annaliese
