{"id":235190,"date":"2022-02-18T18:42:19","date_gmt":"2022-02-19T01:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/traumahealing.org\/?p=235190"},"modified":"2026-04-13T09:24:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T15:24:06","slug":"black-indigenous-people-of-color-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traumahealing.org\/black-indigenous-people-of-color-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"Black, Indigenous, People of Color Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"et_pb_section_0 et_pb_section et_section_regular et_block_section\"><div class=\"et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_0 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_0 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #6c1d45;\"><strong>BLACK, INDIGENOUS, PEOPLE OF COLOR SCHOLARSHIP<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Black, Indigenous, People of Color Scholarship provides a partial scholarship for for Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced trainings in the three-year Somatic Experiencing Professional Training Certificate Program to Black, Indigenous, and other students of color in the United States who provide health services to populations that have cultural and economic barriers to accessing Somatic Experiencing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Somatic Experiencing International recognizes the legacy of trauma, discrimination, and institutional barriers that Black, Indigenous, and other people of color face. This scholarship seeks to enable client populations in communities that face these barriers to be able to access Black, Indigenous, and other Somatic Experiencing Practitioners of color.<\/p>\n<p>SEI also offers a financial-based scholarship. For information on that scholarship see the <a href=\"https:\/\/traumahealing.org\/tuition-and-support\/\">Tuition and Support page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship Amount<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each scholarship will cover a minimum of 50% of the cost of the training program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must meet the following conditions to be eligible for consideration for this scholarship:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifies as Black, Indigenous, Person of Color<\/li>\n<li>Applied and accepted into an upcoming\u00a0<em>Beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced SEI<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><em>training.\u00a0 *if not yet accepted into the training please still submit an application for this scholarship, but note that the application will not be reviewed until applicant is accepted into the program.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Provide SE services to diverse populations<\/li>\n<li>Submit an application <a href=\"https:\/\/traumahealing.org\/tuition-and-support\/\">(check to see if we are currently open for applications here)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Restrictions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrollment space and scholarship funds are limited<\/li>\n<li>SEI reserves the right to determine candidates who are eligible to receive scholarship<\/li>\n<li>Applicants who do not meet the requirements will not be eligible for the scholarship award<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship applications are reviewed ONLY after all requisite documents and application are received and applicant has been accepted into the 3-year training program. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Disclaimer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Receipt of scholarship does not reserve space in a course or training module. Each training has its own registration\/application process, which is separate from the scholarship application.<\/p>\n<p>It is the responsibility of applicants to request a scholarship, and all requests must be made prior to the scheduled start date indicated for the course on the SEI website. Scholarships are not applied retroactively (after the course begins).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once the training application is submitted (or if already a participant in the training) please complete the Black, Indigenous, People of Color Scholarship application<span> <\/span>to be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarship applications may take up to 4 weeks to
