This particular training brought together mental health professionals and community responders from a number of First Nation Communities across Saskatchewan. Building on the success of the 2022 CSS pilots with the Pueblo of Pojoaque in New Mexico, CSS facilitators Del Laverdure, SEP, JD and Julie Clarke, SEP, RT delivered CSS with a focus on including Indigenous history, storytelling and community collaboration. Participants learned the basics of the nervous systems response to trauma and spent time practicing new CSS tools for stabilization, resilience and somatic debriefing.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">By providing tools and skills to stabilize the nervous system, CSS improves outcomes for the responder, their team, the survivors, and the community they serve. Rooted in the science of neurobiology and decades of crisis response application, it\u2019s a critical framework for communities navigating natural disasters, mass casualty events, the recent pandemic, or other catastrophes. Both trainings focused on equipping participants with actionable strategies to use somatically informed crisis intervention skills in the field, as well as skills to support themselves and their peers
