{"id":248201,"date":"2025-02-02T15:29:48","date_gmt":"2025-02-02T22:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/traumahealing.org\/?p=248201"},"modified":"2026-04-13T09:26:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T15:26:12","slug":"my-journey-into-se","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traumahealing.org\/my-journey-into-se\/","title":{"rendered":"Journey into SE\u2122: A Mission to Help as Many People as Possible Heal from Trauma"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"et_pb_section_0 et_pb_section et_section_regular et_block_section\"><div class=\"et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_0 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_0 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When I started my journey with SE\u2122 back in 2008, I had no idea it would lead me to becoming Faculty for SEI and be a part of something that helps so many heal from trauma.\u00a0\u00a0 I had already accomplished a career goal of having my own clinical practice, being a trauma therapist providing cutting edge models that were proven to help those in need of trauma resolution.\u00a0 Apparently, there was more, because one day in Austin, Texas I heard Peter Levine, Ph.D talk about SE\u2122 and I heard a message that said I wasn\u2019t done even if I thought I was.\u00a0 So, I signed up as a student. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I remember sitting in my Beginning I\u00a0class and thinking, \u201cI\u2019m not sure this is where I\u2019m supposed to be?\u201d But, as the 4-day training, turned into 3 modules per year, and then to my Advanced year and then to my SEP, I realized that my body, not my cognitive thoughts, had more of the real message that I was meant to hear.\u00a0\u00a0 The openings and clarity that SE\u2122 provided during this time of my life, opened up so many channels of information to come through that I couldn\u2019t help but listen.\u00a0The message of \u201cHelp as many people as you can heal from trauma\u201d, was loud and clear.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As I utilized SE\u2122 with clients and became an assistant for SE\u2122 trainings, I continued to see how profound the changes were to the healing process from trauma, I knew this was something that needed to be shared with others.\u00a0\u00a0I was one of a few SEP\u2019s in the Houston area, and I went on a further journey to bring SE\u2122 to our city so more clinicians could also know this model.\u00a0 In 2017, as the lead training assistant we had our first generation of students enrolled and we were on our way.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I felt so relieved that we were on this path that I thought for certain that my message I received was well on its way to being accomplished.\u00a0\u00a0 That of course is because the more clinicians we have in Houston that are SE\u2122 trained the more people will get relief from their trauma.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Well, if you have ever heard the phrase, \u201cdon\u2019t walk ahead of your maker\u201d you know exactly what occurred. Although we had accomplished so much in launching SE\u2122 in our city, my role wasn\u2019t done.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I got a nudge and then a louder push from my mentors to become faculty for SEI.\u00a0 Not something that I had thought of or was even on my radar.\u00a0 But that\u2019s the thing, my thought, my radar, was not what I needed to listen to.\u00a0 So, I got quiet again, got with my body, my nervous system, all what I learned through my SE\u2122 experience and the stillness of my own healing process led me to being faculty today.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I came to understand what the message I heard back when I was first an SEP really meant.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019m honored to be in this role and as the SEI Faculty for Houston, Austin, Santa Fe, Atlanta, and soon to be San Antonio\u2019s, first Spanish Bilingual cohort in the U.S, and many more places on the horizon, together through this model we can \u201cHelp as many people as we can heal from trauma.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <span class=\"sei_testimonial_author\">Jeanna Gomez<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p
