The BACP supervision requirement is 1.5 hours per month if you are working towards accreditation.
Sometimes this is completed in one session, other times in two sessions of 45 minutes.
Supervision is a professional service as opposed to a managerial role. It is used to enhance your work and improve your continuing professional and personal development.
I provide supervision not only to Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychologists and other Supervisors but to people in emotionally demanding jobs, like Barristers, Solicitors and Social workers.
Supervisors are responsible for overseeing another counsellor’s case load and ensuring that he/she works within an ethical framework. They also take the load off to a certain degree making you feel you are supported in the work. Working in private practice can often be a lonely business. It’s not like working in a workplace where you get to see colleagues every day. A CPD group and supervision can be vital to your well-being.
Supervision is an integral part of the work and although BACP state a counsellor should have a minimum of 1.5 hours per month this is a MINIMUM. Should your case load become more intense or increase significantly, it’s wise to increase the supervision.
I believe it is important to find the right supervisor so I offer a FREE half an hour’s introductory session either face-to-face or via video link. Please click here to book: calendly.com/angie-herts-counselling
Fees for supervision are £60 per 45 minute session.
